Default How to Divorce a U.S. Spouse if You Live in a Different Country

I am trying to research divorce procedures for someone who lives in Pakistan (Pakistani citizen) who needs to divorce her husband in the US (US citizen). She returned to Pakistan a few months ago specifically to get away from her husband who is an alcoholic. Prior to going to Pakistan she moved around the US and he kept following her and she had been unable to get a divorce (the lawyers kept telling her to wait to file since he didn't have a valid address and was homeless). Her husband also has no interest in giving her a divorce and keeps going on about how his entire family should be charged with abandonment (he's a little crazy, has been out of work due to his drinking for the past 5 years and is randomly homeless when he gets thrown out of wherever he manages to get a bed for a few months). So, anyways, now she is in Pakistan but needs a divorce because she says being married is "giving her issues" in Pakistan and that she has decided to stay there (initially she was only going for a few months to try to save up some $ for living expenses). Any advice or even a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. She does not have the $ to hire a lawyer and I do not know if they have any low cost/sliding scale legal help in Pakistan like they do here in the US.. Thanks.

We are not going to be able to help her. If she wants to divorce him in Pakistan, she is going to need legal help there, and we know nothing about their laws. If she decides to come back to the US then we might be able to give her some advice.
