Default How to Investigate a Debt Collector or Debt Buyer

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Kentucky

    Received in the mail.
    Personal and Confidential
    with my name and address

This communication is from a debt collector
    Commonwealth of Kentucky
    Bill of Costs
    District Court

    Cavalry spv I LLC
    vs Me

Judgement having been entered on the above entitled action on January 10,2014
in favor of the [X] Plaintiff [ ] Defendant, the following shall be taxed as costs

    Filing Fee: 83.50
Fees incident to service of process and summoning of witnesses 40.00

    Jury fees
    cost of original depositions
    commissioners fees
other , all those are blank, 0

    Total 123.50

I cerify, the foregoing cost are corect, and were necessarily incurred in this action. The services for which fees have been charged were
actually and necessarily performed. I further certify a copy of this Bill of Costs was served on , with my name name and address
this Day of July 5th, 2016

Then under that , shows name of the attorney for plaintiff, showsabout 7 people, with one underlined

    Under that,

No exceptions to this bill of costs having been filed within 5 days of its service, the total has been endorsed on the judgement as required by CR.54.04(2)

    Date is empty
    clerk empty
    by DC empty

    My question is huh?

Who are they. I don't know what this is, and where am i being sued or lost judgement

Im being sued for 40 bucks? or nothing, or what is this. Or am i getting something else bigger later for more money.

    Or is this something different.

So I guess i need to pay 123.50 on something i have no clue what it is.

Filing fee of 83.50 and then fees of 40.00 has me totally confused.

found this on credit report a few min ago.

    JUDGMENT
    Filing Date Jan 9, 2014
    Amount $3,948
    Reference Number .........

So am i getting ready to get sued for that ammount. I admit i don't know. I already thought i settled that account from someone else.
Maybe im just oweing taxes and another fee.

Calvary is a junk debt buyer. Most likely it is your old charged off credit account. A charge off means NOTHING to you. The assignee can still try and collect it until the SOL runs out. You'd better have proof other than "you thought" that you have settled this account previously.

Select the "Public Court Records" link, go through the "I'm not a robot" process, and do a search on your name.

It looks to me from what you posted like you were sued and lost back in 2014.

Did you get anything in writing when you settled that account?

Just to make sure the OP understands, he's not about to be sued - he's already BEEN sued and the creditor obtained the judgment against him.

Does that judgment from 2014 still show as open, or does it show as satisfied?

someone else already sued me, it wasn't them,

if it was for that much then why did i get what i just posted and nothing that says 3k or whatever

I already know i paid that one simply because i settled and not with them because i settled after my wages were being garnished.

The notice you received simply informs you of the court costs. Notice that is states "bill of costs". Have you contacted the clerk of court or gone to the courthouse? The only way to get answers about the judgment is to look in the court file. Be sure to check the certificate of service as it will indicate how you were served. Since this is obviously a default judgment (assuming this is not mistaken identity), improper service might allow you to get the judgment vacated.
