If your vehicle was totaled and you have not replaced it, you don't own a vehicle. Are you stating that you borrowed a vehicle from your mother-in-law, and thus that the title and the insurance are both in your mother-in-law's name?

Are you telling us that they don't have a problem with your borrowing a car in somebody else's name but want proof that you're an authorized driver under the insurance company? If that is the case, then you should be able to get documentation that you're on the policy from the insurance company.
