Default Are You Legally Required to Update the Address on Your Driver's Liicense

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: California
Must a person notify DMV, if he moves to a new address to change his address in the driver license?

Thank you, both. Could somebody please refer me to this low, rule or regulation?

    From the Vehicle Code:

14600. (a) Whenever any person after applying for or receiving a
driver's license moves to a new residence, or acquires a new mailing
address different from the address shown in the application or in the
license as issued, he or she shall within 10 days thereafter notify
the department of both the old and new address. The department may
issue a document to accompany the driver's license reflecting the new
address of the holder of the license.
    (b) When, pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 12951, a driver
presents his or her driver's license to a peace officer, he or she
shall, if applicable, also present the document issued pursuant to
subdivision (a) if the driver's license does not reflect the driver's
    current residence or mailing address.

Thank you. My last question is: let's say the person in question has moved out of his parents house, but he is still able to get his mail to his parents address. Shall he still notify DMV about his new address, or if his mail does not get lost and he picks it up from his parents home it is ok to leave his driver license address as is?
    Thank you.

If you move "to a new residence" or "acquires a new mailing address" you must notify the DMV. So, yes, you still have to do it.

Why wouldn't you want to? It's quick and easy to do. And, it will save you a lot of trouble down the road.

The importance is that if you are charged with something or you're facing some administrative action, they will send the notice to your address of record. You can't use the fact you didn't receive it because you further broke the law by not keeping an address on file, as an excuse for not receiving it.
