Default Can a Person Get in Trouble for Creating a Twitter Insult Page

My question involves criminal law for the state of: NY

A person in my highschool created an anonymous Twitter page where they just insulted a bunch of girls and stuff, calling them sl*ts and wh**res over and over. It went on for about a day before everything was deleted. Can they get in legal trouble? They didn't post any pictures. Btw this wasn't me

Unless they are actually sluts and whores, yes, they could get into trouble. Immaturity is generally not a defense to stupid actions, even when those actions are immature.

It isn't a crime to post such things. But it might subject him to discipline by the school and to a lawsuit for defamation by the girls he named in the posts. And the fact that he did it can be spread around giving him a reputation as being both immature and an ass that he may not want to have. If he thought what he did was funny then he clearly lacks the maturity that I would hope high school students would have. That's the sort of thing I'd associate with junior high school kids.
