Angry How to Get My Roommate to Pay Back a Loan

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

    Hello,
I lent my past college roommate 46 dollars last school semester in Dallas. It is the summer break so school is out. I have not received the money back and it has been about two months. He said that he would wire the money into my account but he has not. In the past I have called and called always being friendly and reminding him bout the 46 dollars. Now he has stopped responding to my calls. He lives in Dallas and I live in Houston. I am expected to drive up to Dallas in the next few weeks anyways, so im planning on paying him a visit. He still lives on campus and I have the key to his room/used to by our room. even though he always leaves the front door open, the back window open anyways I got a key to get in. Some people have told me that he doesn't expect to ever pay me back and is laughing about it. So know I'm upset and I want to get the money back. I am expect me to ask him face to face and him saying no. Them what could I do? Can I openly walk into his apartment and take one of his things valued at 46 dollars? He is refusing to give me the money so can I rightfully do that. I have text messages proving that he owes me that money. Also I have some of his main credit cards information in my phone. everything except the pin number. what can I do with that?

I know this is only 46 dollars, but him refusing to pay me back and laughing is pissing me off. Btw I know he has the money. Also I lent him the money bec he did the same for me a couple months before, the only difference is that I paid him back the next week.

    thanks.

Good Lord there must be a full moon.

No, you can't steal from him. You'll never see that money. Ever.

For $46 you got a cheap lesson: never loan money to anyone. You either give it as a gift with no expectation of getting anything back, you buy something of greater value than you're lending from the borrower, and that person can buy it back in a few weeks, or you tell the other person to take a long walk off a short pier.

What the hell is being taught in college these days? Certainly not common sense.

You'll go to jail if you steal from him or make a fraudulent charge on his credit card.

I know this is only 46 dollars, but him refusing to pay me back and laughing is pissing me off.
Then you sue him in small claims court. The same remedy available to everybody else who gets stiffed on a debt..

I was able to call him from someone else's number and he told me is never going to give the money back to me. I tried to reason with him but he just laughed and said that I will never see it again. I mean I can see him in person in a few weeks, and there is just absolutely nothing I can do? Why does the law now a days prevent justice from being done? I dont want to go to court bec that will take time and money. If I just secretly leak his credit card and bank information out online and not take any of his money for myself, then him loosing alot of money should make me feel better. Would that work? No one would be able to find out right?. He doesnt know I have it, I just got feeling one day that I might need it in the future so I went threw his things and got his credit card information. Should I leak his information out online then??? What would yall do?

NEVER, and I mean NEVER, loan money to friends or family. Anyone else you decide to loan money to, get it in writing.

You willingly gave him the money. He didn't steal it from you. He broke no laws.

Get over it. Just refer to him as "That deadbeat X who was willing to sell his reputation for 46 bucks."

That will not hurt your roommate. It will only hurt the merchants when thieves who use the stolen credit card info buy stuff. Eventually your former roommate will dispute the fraudulent charges and get a new card. Meanwhile the merchants will get screwed out of a lot more than $46 when they lose the merchandise, the price of the merchandise + shipping (if any), plus the chargeback fee.

Truly, I had a similar situation. I couldn't prove my rightness.
