I was admitted for one night in the ER at a Nevada hospital . I had too much to drink (new years eve in las vegas) and woke up in the ER. I didn't remember being admitted. I believe someone from the casino called paramedics who took me to the ER for alcohol intoxication.
They did a stomach pump for the alcohol and a CT scan--because I had apparently bumped my cheek and it was swollen.
As soon as I woke up I told the nurse I had no insurance, did not want any treatment, and left. I was fine (other than a bit hungover) and I honestly think they did a lot more than was necessary.
I did not ask for treatment or sign any documents at the time I was admitted (although I would not have been in a proper state of mind to have done so if requested). The only thing I signed upon leaving was a document saying I was leaving against doctor's advice.
They are now billing me $12,000 for the procedures. I have no insurance and can't afford to pay it. Am I liable considering I never contracted for the services before they were performed? If I don't pay could they damage my credit even though there was no contract?
Thanks,
Michael
