My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Indiana
I know other european countries and even australia have more stringent consumer protection laws than the US, I'm concerned about my situation in which I owe $600 for cancelling a university dorm contract for 2016-2017. I cancelled before the beginning of the start date of the contract, it is legal for them to charge me $600? That doesn't even reflect their actual business costs when the whole cancellation process is online. Also the landlord is responsible for finding another tenant to limit costs. Furthermore I was not allowed to inspect the apartment before signing. Please let me know if there are any legal loopholes that I can bring up contesting the charges. http://rps.indiana.edu/doc/1617Resid...dBEchanges.pdf

I believe it is an unfair contract and the cancellation fee is taking advantage of students.
