My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Florida.

My child is in the legal custody of the mother but I am paying child support to the grandmother with whom my daughter lives. Shouldn't I be paying the mother because that's who has legal custody of my child? I'm not complaining about paying child support but I'm wondering if that is considered some type of "fraud". The grandmother was given temporary guardianship by the mother a little over 3 years back at which point I filed for custody (Florida calls it time sharing) and she filed for support. She got her support promptly and I've been paying faithfully for 3 years. But I just recently had my final hearing this past week after 3 years and I'm 100% sure I'm going to get majority time sharing. But my question is this, how is it that I came to pay support to the grandmother to begin with? Shouldn't I be paying the legal guardian of my child which was and always has been the mother?
