Default Re: Teacher Interogated Child Durring Open CPS Investigatiom

Dogmatique, as always, you are correct. I should have clarified. This is a child in the first grade that had so many unexcused absences that the child has poor attendance, no doctors notes and the teacher is concerned enough to call CPS.

Dogmatique, you are correct that in very young children that sometimes a child being ill doesn't have the typical symptoms that parents know to look for. In very young children, it can be very difficult to determine if the child bored, upset, sleepy, hungry, needs changing or is sick. But, regardless of the age of the child, if this happens frequently, the child needs to be taken to the dr to find out what the problem might be.

Personally, I think there is more to the story. I think that the teacher's call to CPS deals with more than the child having poor attendance. Same thing with the school counselor talking to the child about being absent. If CPS, school counselor, teacher, etc asks a child that is in the first grade if they stayed home because they didn't fell good, that child is going to be able to say yes or no. Another question might be did the child stay home because Mommy and Daddy had a fight ? Did the child stay home because Mommy or Daddy were sick ? It appears that the child being kept home because Mommy honestly thought there was something wrong with the child, is suspect. The fact that the child has not missed any days since CPS has been investigating the family is interesting. The fact another complaint has been made containing all of the topics the child and the counselor talked about also indicates that their is concern about much more than the days the child has missed school.
