Default Accused of Switching Price Tags After Placing a Tag on an Unmarked Item

My question involves defamation in the state of: Connecticut

So, me and a friend of mine got caught shoplifting from a Walmart store, and luckily they let us off with just a warning. A few weeks later, I was shopping at a different walmart location and as I was leaving the store the same AP/security guy from the other store stopped me & made me go back inside to check my receipt. I showed him my receipt with no problem, and was really cooperative despite the fact that I felt like he was targeting me. Now a few weeks after that I was at the same store shopping, bought a few items, and was about to leave when he stopped me again. He took me in to the office & proceeded to tell me that I purposefully switched the price tag on the ONE item (which I didn't) as when I first picked up the item there was no tag on it, so I grabbed a tag from what I thought was the same item (but different size) and I went to check out at a cash register. Long story short, the jerk made me confess that I did it on purpose just so he didn't call police on me and my friend (the same 1 from the first time) who was with me & then told us we were "banned from all walmart stores in the USA + Puerto Rico" then had us both sign a paper. Then we left. My question I'm trying to ask is- Is there anything I can do about him or the situation? Am I really going to get arrested for "trespassing" if I walk into a Walmart store in a different state!?

COULD you be arrested going into another Wal-Mart? Maybe. WILL you? Probably not ... unless this guy happens to be there.

Keep in mind that if you make a stink, they could always pursue criminal charges for the original theft ... and maybe the next one that you "confessed" to.

YOU created the situation that you now have to live with. YOU stole from Wal-Mart, and now YOU are facing suspicion as a thief since you were caught doing it once. I am actually surprised they did not ban you that first time.

You are free to complain to the management and to corporate if you wish. Though, I doubt that you will find any meaningful compensation coming your way as a result.

The problem with stealing is that it taints you for a long time to come. Theft is a crime of moral turpitude, and as such, the act itself can lend itself to the presumption that you are a liar. Perhaps it is time to avoid Wal-Mart.

The downside is that if you enter any walmart and do any more of your "krafty" things that attracts the attention of store security, they may indeed apprehend you again and when they look you up and find you've been banned, they can immediately turn you over to the police for criminal prosecution.

By the way, you can expect a letter from Walmart's "lawyers" demanding civil restitution for the damages you've caused them. Your story in implausable. You don't switch tags PERIOD. If you have an item without a tag you wish to purchase, you inquire with the store (bringing a similar item with its tag to make it easy is acceptable).

the jerk made me confess that I did it on purpose just so he didn't call police on me (you dodged a big bullet, many times once they said yes they call the cops and arrest you. The person basically got you to confess when they didn't have enough proof, lets be honest you tired to steal last time. Can you blame him for being suspect. I would stay out of that Walmart especially even other ones, you don't want to get arrested.
