My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Oregon
Hello.
My ex-property management company is attempting to collect money from myself and ex-roomate for damages to the duplex. This is BS because most of the damages were already present before we ever moved in.
The property management company claims:
- There was "excessive wear and tear" to the duplex's paint and charged us with a bill of nearly $700 to fix it.
- We were charged with a garbage clean up bill equaling almost $300. Even though the property management people admitted (via email) that there was "little trash left".
- Over $500 to replace two or three blinds. Please note, our original inspection notes says that there were bent blinds.
- We passed two inspections from the property management people. The first inspection was approximately two months after we moved in, and the last inspection was approximately two months before we moved out.
- They are also charging us for door damage, which I documented on our initial move-in list.
Furthermore, because of their claims, we cannot move into a new home because of their claims. We have been homeless for the last few months and this is complete bullshit.
Please know that my ex-roommate and I have always received our security deposits back from previous landlords. We are getting screwed and I need some legal advice as to what to do.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks in kind.
