Default Possible Vandalism Charge for Breaking the Side Mirror of a Car

My question involves criminal law for the state of: CA

Long story short: I was riding my motorcycle and a truck cut me off. I chased after him and slap his side mirror. the mirror part detached and I took off. He was behind me for sometime and I kind of shake him loose but the guy called the cop and found me on the road

first thing the cop said to me is honestly goes a long way,It could be big or you guys can deal with this with insurance. I told him the guy cut me off and I tapped his "window." He asked me why I am riding all around the places and I replied " Its a sunday ride, I just want to ride around." He said he is helping me. I asked what exactly are you helping me with? He replied by not arresting you cause the guy wanted us to arrest you.

He told me they have to open a case and took all my information including my SSN and gave me a piece of paper has the case number on it. I asked him whats gonna happens next. He said a detective gonna call me and its up to the DA gonna file any charges. It could be vandalism.

Whats gonna happen next? Its been a week now?

I called lots of lawyers they said different things to me. And i did a little bit of reserach, they they would have get me into trouble. They could have arrested me that day but why they didnt?

It is at least misdemeanor vandalism. It's likely they will be submitting the matter to the DA. If the DA files the case he may also seek an arrest warrant. Or, you may receive a summons to go to court.

That's what more than half of the lawyers told me. They most likely gonna send me the ticket?

Do you recommend I should hire a lawyer?
Some say I can make it go away by taking class or community service.

And how likely they not gonna follow the case?

Most DA's offices lack the resources to pursue most misdemeanors these days. However, you may very well get a claim for damages and maybe sued in Small Claims as well.
