Default Mandatory Court Appearance for a Speeding Ticket

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California, in the Santa Barbara county.

This is my first time getting a ticket, so I'm a bit new to all this, but after some research, I think this ticket is a mandatory appearance? It doesn't have a fine on it, and tells me that I should go to the Santa Barbara court on 5/4/2016. I was going 80 mph on a 65 mph limit freeway. Do I just go to court and plead guilty and pay? Or does something else happen when I head to court. Thank you for any assistance.

Yes, it's a mandatory court appearance.

When you go to court you can plead guilty or not guilty.

If you plead guilty, show contrition and ask for traffic school. That keeps the ticket off your record and away from your insurance company.

Set your cruise control at the speed limit from now on.

Thank you. Would you happen to know how much the fine would be once I plead guilty in court?

$250 to $350 would be my guess.

But you wouldn't pay a fine if you got traffic school, you would pay for the traffic school when you signed up for it. That's sometimes a bit less than the fine would be.

Ah, alright! I appreciate the info, but would there be a way to just declare myself guilty through letter, or formal document? I live a few hours away from the court that I'm requested at.

What CVC were you cited for?

Not sure what you mean there adjuster. They would be paying the citation fine plus the traffic school cost.
