Ok. I wrote a check on my parent's account and signed my name. I'm just 21, never done anything. It went to the municipal court (state is Texas). The city prosecutor told me that she would "dismiss the charges" if I paid check and restitution. I paid the check and restitution and the payment is waiting to be cleared (24 hours or whatever). Anyways, what I need to know is:
1. Is a Class C Misdemeanor the same thing as a Municipal Offense?
2. If it was dismissed, will ANYthing show up on a background check?
3. I plan to be a teacher. Right now I'm in my last year of school, which means lots of volunteer work in public schools. I have to pass a background check. Will I be able to pass it? Will this one stupid check always haunt me?
4. Is it worth getting expunged (if it shows up)? Or will the state be able to see the charge anyways?
5. My friend said that a parking ticket shows up as a class c misdemeanor as well, so I should just not worry about it?
Thanks for any help, I'm so confused. I really feel like they are just trying to terrify me - which they have done sufficiently.
