Default Re-Entering the U.S. After Your Re-Entry Permit Expires

    Hi all,

I am a green card holder and i am staying out side the U.S.

(First Question) I had applied my re-entry permit in 2014 which is getting expired in 2016 March 19th and i would like to travel U.S in April. Is there any way i can get extend one month or any form that i need to fill it?

(Second Question) My passport is already expired and i had a U.S Immigrant Visa in it, and i have already applied for a new passport (Renew) so do i need a immigrant Visa again in my new passport? If yes then which form do i need to apply for it.

Hoping to hear from you all and thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Huss.

The procedure to get a reentry permit extended is roughly the same as applying for a new one. It may be issued, but they may have you go for a returning resident visa instead (or they may consider you've adbandoned your residency).

Once your green card was issued, the immigrant visa you had really is superfluous. You can enter on the green card/reentry permit.

Understand that the green card (permanent residence) is issued for people who WANT TO RESIDE IN THE US. It is not something for those residing abroad to use to circumvent the normal visas for entry into the US. If you are abusing it as such, you can expect to lose it.
