    Default Touching Somebody Else's Purchase

(Sorry for the title typo meant to type proseucutable? Mods please fix)

My question involves criminal law for the state of: NY

Hi, so this is the situation, was at a pizza shop ordering a takeout pie and when it was ready was paid for by credit card and before picking up the box there was another takeout order in a shopping bag on the counter and I somehow found my arm moving toward the bag to take it (still don't know why it was a subconscious thing) but quickly pulled back after barely touching it with my finger. The pizza guy looked at me and I tried to just play it off as nothing and was able to walk out the store without being said anything to.

So, even so nothing happened at store they could still track me via credit card if they thought further about it.. it's been on my mind bothering me is there anything here for me to worry about?

Only that, subconsciously, you are a thief and could easily embark on a life of crime if you don't control yourself.

Otherwise, nothing is likely to come of this.

Tnx for the response, actually I'm far from a youngster and apart from once as a kid have never stolen anything, I think it had to do with having had a shopping bag of my own in my other hand after going to the market and in a tired/mind elsewhere moment my mind somehow thought that bag was mine too.. crazy stuff I know so but is legally anything that can b done?

    I was being facetious.

Seriously, though, I don't think you need to lose any sleep over it since you didn't take anything.

What I've been thinking also, having not seen anything anywhere for such a particular situation the thought is there whether a possible charge of attempted shoplifting/larceny is a possibility.

You're overthinking this. Let it go.
