My question involves criminal law for the state of: Kentucky
I was stopped for sliding an item through UScan without paying for it. I was informed they have video of me doing this an several occasions. I was stopped for $4 but store says they have video of other occasions with total amount being approx. $157. The police were called but later dispatch cancelled. I was made to sign a form saying I slid items through otherwise they would tell police I did not cooperate. After dispatch was cancelled (about 1 hr after they were called) I had to sign a limited release?? Not sure what that is. Also banned from store and civil damages. I plan to pay the civil damages ASAP. Was I actually arrested if the police were not there? I have no citation, case number, or other paperwork besides the number to call for civil damages. Also, police likely delayed due to bad road conditions from snow storm, which also made me eager to leave, because I had to drive home. Lastly, I am willing to accept my blame and make restitution but can they put me in jail if not actually arrested?
