Hi, I'm not a lawyer but I doubt most of the posters here are too. I'm also not going to give you moral advice, or pretend like I care about your safety and give you the ol' "leave him cause if it happened once it'll happen again" speech that does nothing to answer your question like some of the other post.

I had a case much, much milder that didn't involve hitting or an arrest and much less a gun so I can't imagine go how many charges will be filed on you boyfriend but I'm going through something right now as well. I consulted various lawyers as well and the simple truth is that there is nothing that you can do at this point.

Your state may have a "no drop" policy so charges will go on with or without you. The only thing that you CAN do is simply NOT cooperate with the prosecution. They will threaten to put you in jail, lie to you, or do anything else to get you to testify but remember, they are not your friends. They are not representing you. They do not have your best interest in mind. Stone wall them. They can't touch you unless you get subpoenaed and even then they are going to thread lightly about putting you in jail because you are a victim. Until then you can throw any correspondence you receive from them in the trash and ignore all their calls.

If there are no other witnesses then your testimony will be the primary evidence but be careful because not having a complaining witness may delay their case but it won't stop it. The prosecution will use other evidence like photos of your bruises, the gun they recovered, and other things.

Sorry but the case will not go away. Make sure your boyfriend lawyers up and that you don't talk about this to anyone unless you get subpoenaed. The rest will depend on how much of a risk taker you boyfriend is: either take a plea (if offered) or take it to trial which will drag on for maybe more than a year.

But damn....if he threaten to kill you then this is some serious shit.
