Default How to Report Bigamy for Prosecution

My question involves marriage law for the State of California, USA

An Indian male citizen residing in California State and working on H1B visa marries in California State, while his marriage in India is subsisting, thus committing bigamy.

To which authority in California should the matter of bigamy be reported so that action may be taken against the person?

What details, evidence etc. should be provided to the authority?

Who are you in all this? Your ability to do anything about it is pretty limited unless you are the actual spouse or the putative one.

The complaint can be made to the local police. Chances are they will do NOTHING with this information. THey just don't have the inclination or resources to chase down whether even a prior US marriage was in force, let alone a foreign one.

Immigration probably isn't going to care with regard to his H1B visa. Of course, any attempt to adjust status based on the marriage or eventually to apply for naturalization, is going to very much care.

i am the spouse. the person had second marriage in USA with an Indian while the marriage in India is subsisting.

how can I get the official information about the marriage contract registered in USA?

Can I make application under the Freedom of Information Act by paying the fee of US $ 10, though I am in India now?

To which authority should the application under the Freedom of Information Act to be sent?

Can I proceed against the person for bigamy while I am staying in India?

I can't even begin to undrestand why you think FOIA would help you at all. You don't give the government information under FOIA, you ask them to give YOU documents they have.

There's very little that you can do with the information, but you may be able to get a cetified copy of the marriage license thorugh the mail for a fee. I have put that link below. Besides being told that a marriage has occured, do you have any other proof ? Again , not that it will make any difference, I'm just curious
