Question How Much Time Do You Get to Vacate When Your Landlord Carries Out an Eviction

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: montgomery co tn
i live in montgomery co tn..i want to know can a deputy and the property maintenience just knock on your door once open barge in demand you get a change of clothes a few of your personal belongings..purse and such your animals and vacate immedialty all the while changing the lock on your front door.well thats what happen to me this am i was in shock......the landlord and i have a aggreement that i am expecting a settlement and at which time i recieve my settlement he will be paid all rent fees and any untlities owed to him..i had it notorized and gave it to him he aggreed..due to a few minor setbacks on my case it hasnt settled as quickly as i had hoped however i have kept in touch with the property manager and updated them...i spoke with them just last week and gave them a date as to a settlement expected which is the end of the month...now when they rushed in on me this am i was very upset and i called the office and they said something wasnt right it was taking too long and wanted me to leave immediatly...of course i did not agree..they accused me of lying i gave them my attorney name and no.. after about 15 mins of calling back and forth(they would call the maintainence guy..he would tell me you gotta go...deputy would back him saying get my things and lets go..i in turn would call the office) the owner agreed(he said against his better judgement) he would give me a lil longer but i needed to make some effort......i told him i understood but that i made the aggreement and i fully intended to stick to it..i am a honest person....but now i am nervouse..in reading online this is a unlawful eviction..he cannot just show up without prior warning and make me leave like that..is this correct...i am behind a conserderable amt which is why i did the written pledge(notorized).he agreed to the statement which has no date as to when my settlement could be settled.but my question is can he do that..and since he agreed and i have proof that im being honest does he still have grounds to evict me.and if he does dont he have to give me more than 10 mins(deputy told me i had ten minutes max....thank you

When were you served with a notice to quit for nonpayment of rent? When were the court proceedings for your eviction case, and what was the outcome of those proceedings? If the outcome was the entry of an order for eviction, when was the order entered by the court and how many days later did the eviction occur?

With proper procedure and the proper court order that's exactly how it works.

The following web page gives you the procedure and time line for eviction:

well thats what happen to me this am
I suggest you go to the courthouse and review the case file to make sure that the procedure was properly followed.

Apparently, your landlord got tired of waiting for his money.

Again, if the eviction was properly handled through the court, none of that matters.

As for what the landlord CAN do well, obviously, he CAN do it because he DID do it.
