Actually, that scenario happens just as much as going to work and being turned around at the door to go back home. When trucks or shipments are late and the work isn't there yet, but they know that the work will be there in the next hour or two, we are told the start up time is being pushed back an hour or two. Then we have no choice but to sit and wait. Last time it happened a few weeks ago, the manager said "you can't be on the clock if there is no work here". What's the alternative? Just leave and get fired or written up?
Seriously look for a new job. You all should be seriously looking for new jobs.
