My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Colorado
I am posting this for my sister. Trying to see if there is ANYTHING she can do. I have a feeling there isn't much help. Here's the situation:
She's got a lease on a rental that ends in July 2016. Her boyfriend is kicking her out. Both their names are on the lease. However, he says he still wants her to pay for her half of the rent because he can't afford to live there on his own. He said if she doesn't, they'll be breaking the lease and they'll owe the rest of the year's rent. He says she might as well pay, because it will ruin her credit, cause legal issues, etc., etc. It's a crappy situation and one reason I never think it's a good idea to lease with someone you aren't seriously committed to, but that's beside the point. Is there any help? Any tips? I do have a copy of the lease if that helps. Thank you!
