Default Allied Industries, credit collection company

I was called today stating they are 3rd party and bought accounts that are delinquent. I was told that i owe $806.05 on a debt back in 11/2000. The company told me many things and the one thing they stated was pay us $200.00 today and they will stop calling. They also stated that they had this case since september 2006, it's now 01/2007. I have had many large purchases including 2 homes and 4 cars and never once had a delinquent charge attached to my credit history since 11/2000. The company stated it was from a story known as hellig &myers furniture and they went out of business in 12/2000. I also told the collection company how could i owe them when it was through mbna on store credit and why arent they the ones calling me. Hm maybe it was because it was paid in full.

I just feel they are trying to take me for a ride and the threats of ruining my credit are unfair when they dont even know who i made payments too, I feel very frustrated and thought maybe someone could offer me some good advice.
