she rings it in under my number as a miscellaneous no tax item but it is considered a part of my sales and i pay taxes on a percentage of my sales .. so its likely

yeah cause jobs are so easy to come by and housing on a waitress' pay is plausible .. i don't have a second income or help with my bills from a significant other .. on my own so every penny counts for me .. she knows I am stuck and she uses that to her advantage ..

Ok, that is one more complaint to make to the department of labor. She has no right to include your opening change as part of your sales. The only possible way that would be valid is if she either ignores the change, or deducts it back out of your shift end cash before she records your sales.

    She is a real peach.

Well, if its the rent portion she is still doing it wrong. She should not be adding anything extra to your sales, she should be deducting the money from your net, after tax, income. By adding it to your sales she is causing you to pay tax on the money, twice...assuming that you actually earn enough money to end up having to pay tax on it.

However...amusingly enough, she is also cheating herself by doing it that way. She is adding to your sales, therefore adding to her sales, therefore increasing her taxable income incorrectly.

More and more I am believing that she does not know what she is doing, rather than actively trying to scam the system.

Also, if you would use the quote button (lower right hand corner of the post you want to respond to) when responding people will be able to understand better what issue you are referring to when you post.

Okay, right now I am talking ONLY about the money you are required to have on hand to use for change.

Yes or no question. Do you, or do you not, get this money back?
