    Default Getting Medicare Benefits

    Medicare is a health insurance program for older Americans (age 65+), for certain people who Social Security disability benefits, and for people who require dialysis or transplant due to end-stage kidney failure. Medicare Part A is "hospital insurance", and Medicare Part B is "medical insurance".

    If you are not yet age 65, you may qualify if you fall into one of the following categories:

    1. You are receiving Social Security disability benefits because you have Lou Gehrig's disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis);

    2. You are disabled and have received Social Security disability benefits for at least two years; or

    3. You are a kidney patients, and require dialysis or a kidney transplant because of end-stage renal failure.
