Question A Store Employee May Have Recorded My License Plate After I Shoplifted

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Nevada

I was caught stealing about 200 dollars worth of merchandise from a local Safeway, a misdemeanor amount.
I was about to walk out when an employee stopped me. I immediately turned and walked towards him, set down the bags with the items, and started walking out. He said I needed to come to the front with him, which I ignored and walked out to my vehicle. When I was pulling out I saw him in my rear view with his camera pointed at my license plate. I am unsure if he got a clear picture of my plates, but I am worried. My question is since I did not leave with the items, would the police be contacted? I did not leave the store with anything. I technically didn't even get out of the store before he stopped me. I understand that they will say I had intent which is enough for criminal charges. This happened almost 12 hours ago, and I figured if the police did have the plates and we're going to pursue, they would have come knocking already. Immediately after they associated an address with the plate numbers. But I may be wrong. The vehicle is not registered to me, but I live at the address it is registered with. Anyone with experience with situations like this please reply ASAP. I am worried the police will come knocking in the middle of the night or early morning.

Please no hateful crap, I'm aware stealing is not right. I have my reasons for doing it. I'm posting here for legal advice and experiences from people who have been in this situation. Not judgmental answers that do nothing but state the obvious.

Yes, the police can arrest you even though you didn't leave with the items. How sad that you had to steal using someone else's car.

I would recommend you avoid that store in the future. Not only did the employee get your friend's license plate, you were likely later identified on surveillance recordings in the store, so they have a picture of your face. Those images have a tendency to make their way to the police, to the news, and to Facebook, etc. Now, will the police show up? I don't have a crystal ball, and all you can do is wait and see. And worry.

Whatever your "reasons" are for stealing, you'd better find a different way to live going forward.

Hopefully, your friend will ask you to find another place to live. I wouldn't keep a thief in my home, especially one that used my car to commit a crime. If you think my comments are hateful, but you don't think stealing is hateful, then I recommend therapy.
