Default Can You Apply for a Driver's License Without Disclosing Ownership of a Car

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Texas.

I own a car that I do not operate. I am transferring my liscense from Arizona. The insurance policy on the car is in the person's name who operates the car. The registration is in my name.

Texas required registration and proof of insurance if you own a car. When at the DMV, I put that I do not own one, since I don't operate one.

They provided me a temp liscense, is there likely to be any problems in recieving the hard copy after this?

Not likely to be a problem if they issued the temporary.

So you lied when answering the question?

is this car titled in Texas or Arizona? Is it operated in Texas or Arizona?

btw: since it is your car you must report it as an asset on your bankruptcy filing.

Yes. Correct. The car is titled and operated in Texas.

Who knows. If they check their own state's records it could be a problem as you have falsified an answer.

Worse case I would just have to fax over proof of insurance, correct?

I can only presume there was a statement on the application speaking to possible penalties for falsifying your answers. If there was I would refer to the penalties disclosed there for what they could do.

Whether they would do anything is something only they can answer.

    Here is what they asked:

"Do you own a motor vehicle which is required to be registered (Texas Transportation Code Section 502.040)?
Do you own a motor vehicle which is required to have liability insurance OR other proof of financial responsibility in compliance with the Motor Vehicle Safety Responsibility Act (Texas Transportation Code Section 601.051)?"

    You also certified this:

"I do solemnly swear, affirm, or certify that I am the person named herein and that the statements on this application are true and correct."

So, you lied on a Government document. It doesn't state the penalties. It will be interesting to see if they cross reference.

Is it typical procedure? Or from here is it just printed on card and mailed out? Do you believe it will be an issue?

It is always an issue when you commit fraud with a state government.
