    Default Medicare and Medicaid

Medicare is a health insurance program for older Americans (age 65+), for certain people who Social Security disability benefits, and for people who require dialysis or kidney transplant due to end-stage kidney failure.

Medicaid is a medical assistance program which gives certain health care benefits based upon financial need. While there are federal guidelines, each state sets its own rules. Within that context, all states require that people eligible for Medicade be poor, or to be spending the bulk of their money on medical care.
