Default Statute of limitations for life insurance

I live in RI, and my father passed away 13 years ago when I was only 14 years old. His so-called wife got the Life Insurance money, because she was the beneficiary. He had assumed that she would take care of his children, being that they were marrie for 10 years. She also got money from the automobile insurance because he died in his car. Being that there has been 13 years of time passed. Do I have any legal rights to sue her? i know that the money is gone, but I really want a bracelet he had of his initials that my grandfather had broght him from Italy. Is there anyone that can help me on this matter, or atleast point me in the right direction as to where to find some answers? It would be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you

Sue her for what? Unfortunately the policy was in her name, not yours.

As for personal items, the best way to get them is generally to ask, and sometimes to offer to purchase them (as distasteful as that prospect can be).

I only want the bracelet, I have asked and I have been told no. But, my father always said that I could have it. My main concern is knowing that she had all of his jewlery melted down and made into a few items that she could wear, but supposively, not the bracelet. As for the money, I could care less. I just want this one thing. As for any other possesions that belonged to my dad. The night he died, she packed all of his clothes, shoes, and personal belongings into garbage bags and got rid of it all the next day. So asking for anything was not an option. The only thing she kept was his jewlery.

She's a mean woman and you will never see your bracelet.

    Sorry.

Well, thanks for the info. I kinda figured that I would never see it. I was just hoping that there was something lawfully that I could do to get it, but OH WELL.
