Default Statute of Limitations in Texas

Does anyone know the statute of limitations in TX on a felony drug possession case. Was arrested in June of 2004 in Tx and bonded out and came back home to IL, never had a court date until Aug. of 2006. Shouldn't I have had court sometime in 2004 if they were going to press charges? How long do they have to decide? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Default Criminal Statute of Limitations in Texas

You were charged, and the statute of limitations stopped running when that occurred. You may have a speedy trial issue depending upon the reason for the delay in proceeding with the prosecution. Discuss that possibility with your lawyer.
