My question involves judgment recovery in the State of: California
In September a jury found against me in a civil trial. Never having been involved in a lawsuit before, I have questions about timing/deadlines in a case like this. The judge will hear a motion in January to increase the judgment to roughly triple. This will mean I will lose my home and all other assets. I fully expect the judge to award the increase, she has granted everything the plaintiff has asked during this whole process (you all know the scenario, the judge treating the plaintiff's attorney like a welcome friend while rolling her eyes at my attorney and treating him with contempt).
Should this happen and the judge award the increase, what does the collection process look like? The house specifically. Will I receive some kind of notification and have some time to move and possibly sell the house myself? Or will the sheriff just show up and force me out on the spot? I have been so confused through this whole thing, any insight here will be greatly appreciated.
