Default Florida's Emancipation Laws are Unfair

My father is living on the streets and he is major drug addict. My mother has recently been through surgeries and such and has become addicted to pills. Now on any other case I would say call DCF. Well my mom is a bit of a handful. My mom used to work for the center for drug free living, funny how things work out right. So in this case my mom knows the system like the back of her hand and can manipulate the situation. I am 16 years old and I am have been taking care of her for about 2 years now. We lived in Section 8 housing since I was 5- 15. A year ago we finally got out with the help of the government, a few months later,my mom lost her job. She did not look for another job for about a year. she is currently employed but we have come deathly close to loosing our home due to eviction. My mom no longer, cooks, cleans, does laundry and doesn't even drive her own car. She uses mine for work. She clames to not have enough money to get her car insured or registered. How in the world do I get out of the mess that I am in. I am good kid. I am going into my junior year, I am working on scholarships and I have almost all honors classes. Please help me get out! My grandfather is willing to take custody of me. We just need a way to get me out! Thank you

    Default ME TOO!!!

hey my name is Ashley and im in almost the same situation. I have lived with my grandma from the time i was born untill i was 12. I then moved in with my mother and father. When the got divorced in november and problems with my mnom and her new boyfriend came around i moved back in with my grandma. Before i left, i got kicked out almost every two weeks for random reasons. Now i live with my grandma but i work full time now that it is summer. I pay for my car, cell phone, gas, clothes and everything. My boyfriend is 18 and now a sr in high school. We both individually make more than my mother or her boyfriend. We both want to move out and get an apartment. I know we could afford it. My grandma jus had cancer removed and is at home off work for the next 2 months. I also run her around everywhere. I know i could take care of myself. I need some help about emancipation from someone. I know her nor anyone else in my family will consult to this. If anyone has any suggestions.....PLEASE SEND!!!!!

So what? There is no hope for me either than? This is ridiculous? How is this country doing me any justice at all? I NEED to be out of this household away from my parents. I am almost 17, I can very well take care of myself and have people who are willing to take me in while i'm working on that. But there is no hope because the system is flawed beyond belief? I need my parents permission to get away from them? How does that make any logical sense? I'm sure there are some cases where that can apply. But not mine. My parents will not let me leave, they would rather send me away to some christian reform boot camp and spend thousands of dollars than let me go on my own. They are not good people or parents. They never should of been allowed to have children. And your telling me I'm screwed? I may not have it the worse but that does NOT take away MY pain and suffering. If there is any justice or hope in this country left, PLEASE let me know about it.

    Default Florida Emancipation Laws

I would like to tell you something different, but Florida has simply chosen to impose laws which are very restrictive of the rights of minors to emancipate or marry without parental consent. As nobody lobbies for the rights of children, there is no pressure to change the emancipation law - and my guess is that if there were such a movement, the socially conservative groups which seem to hold sway in the state legislature and Governor's mansion would cry foul.
