I am hopeful someone can shed some light or steer me in the right direction as I seem to get conflicting answers on this subject matter. Here is my situation. I am a U.S. Citizen residing in Texas and my girlfriend/fiancé lives in Mexico at a border town. We have been seeing eachother for 6 months now and sometimes I travel to Mexico and sometimes she travels to the U.S. to visit me on her B1/B2 Visa. We see each other every two weeks one way or the other. We want to get married in the U.S. as soon as possible as we are truly in love and want to be together as soon as possible on a permanent basis. She has never had any issues with getting permits to travel to San Antonio or getting through customs on her B1/B2 Visa. She has a good paying position in Mexico that she would like to maintain once we get married in the U.S. and file the paper work as we know this can be a long drawn out process. My confusion lies in what paper work or route is the best way to go in order for her to travel to the U.S. just to get married and return to Mexico so she can keep her job there until the paperwork is filed and approved in the U.S.? From what I have read, if we apply for a K1 visa, this could take about 6 months and once approved she would have to stay in the U.S. until she receives her green card after we are married and would not be able to work until she receives the permit to work as well. My concern is, whenever she travels here to San Antonio she gets her permit and they ask her why she is traveling to the U.S. and she simply states she is visiting her boyfriend in San Antonio and she has no problem getting the permit. If we want to get married in March 2016, and she is honest and says I am going to San Antonio to get married but coming back to Mexico (which she will be) after a week or so will they not allow her to do that? I am just trying to find the "right" way to do this and allow her to continue to travel back and forth so we can see each other once we are married until the paperwork is processed legally in the U.S. I have called several "government" phone numbers and receive different answers. Anyone? I had no idea it was this confusing.
Thank you,
Erkz1
