My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: CT
Hi everyone. I have spoken with a Bankruptcy attorney, but would like to know if I what I am being told is accurate. Most lawyers are honest, but some aren't. This guy seems like he is, and what he is telling me does not seem out of bounds, but I was still hopeful that someone can tell me if the following is true.
I am going to file C.7 end of Dec., and from what I understand, I am going to have the last 6 mos. of my income looked at. The limit is a little over $30k for that 6 mos. I am self-employed, and have business expenses that I use as deductions when I file my taxes every year. I have made more than $30k, but my attorney is telling me that if I have business expenses, they can offset any income over the $30k. So, I actually have just under $40k in income... if I have $10k in business expenses - legitimate, necessary expenses used for carrying on my trade - does that offset the "extra" income, whereas the $30k would now be considered as income? I am rounding off here for the purposes of making this a bit simpler.
Thank you in advance.
