You need to provide proper notice that rent is due and that the tenancy will be terminated if the rent is not paid. If you are in a county that is covered by your state's Uniform Landlord Tenant Act, it is necessary to comply with that Act in your notice; if not, you don't need to describe the reason for the eviction, but you must still give proper notice. You can only seek a Detainer Warrant after the proper service of notice, and the expiration of the notice period without your receipt of the rent.
