Default Can You Be Towed for Parking in a Yellow Striped Zone When All Legal Spaces are Full

I work as a contractor for the airport of the city I live in. There is a special employee lot, that you need to use your badge with an RFID tag inside to even get into the lot. Most days, by the time i get to work (~2pm) the lot is full, I drive around and look for a spot and can assure you it is fill, so much that other employees park in the yellow stripped areas that cap the ends of the parking rows. I have to do this often myself. Today I was told that someone has called in my car for doing this, and that I would be towed if i did it again.

There are seriously no parking spaces, and even a member of the group that informed me of this parks in a carpool spot and does not carpool, I know this because I see him come and go often when I do. When a spot is available, I will park in it. When I asked where I should park when the lot is full, the question was avoided and I was told not to park in the yellow areas. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do if I get towed in this situation? Or preferably, what to do before I get towed? The proper authorities have been told many times that there is not enough parking spots.

    Thanks in advance.

You didn't follow the instruction to identify your state, so we can't point you to any signage requirements for your state.

Assuming the signage is proper, if you get towed for parking in a no-parking area, you can pay the towing costs and any impound fees, recover your car, and decide if it's worth the additional cost to again risk parking in a prohibited space.

It would be nice if your employer somehow found a way to offer more parking, but you still can't park in no-parking areas of the lot without risking being towed.

    Thank you for the response.

The employer is the city, so they are very stingy.

I'm keeping the state blank intentionally, sorry. I can tell you that the only signage in this lot is the one carpool spot, it does state 'Tow away zone", and two handicap spots on the opposite end, but there are no signs stating anything about the yellow areas.

Anyways, If I was towed for such an offence yet my employer expects me to park here so that I can work for them, would i have any legal legs to stand on based on the information you have. To overturn the fees? Or has this question entered a different legal thread now?

Based on what you have shared, you can expect that you will go out of pocket for the cost of the towing and impound fees.

You will need to research your state's signage laws on your own.

Are you in the US? We asked for your state twice. Your spelling lends me to believe you may be British (or somewhere in the commonwealth).
