Question Can You Get a Driver's License if Suspended in Another Country

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Illinois

My German BF and I will be moving to Chicago in the next few months because his company is transferring him there. He would like to get his driver's license, but his German driver's license was suspended a few years ago because of DUI (marijuana). Will the Illinois DMV allow him to drive in the US?

Does anyone have any information on this or know where I can find some?

    Danke! :-)

Default Re: Can You Get a Driver's License if Suspended in Another Country

Pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/6-106, when you apply for a driver's license in Illinois you must disclose, under oath, whether you have been licensed in another state or country, if your license has ever been suspended or revoked and, if so, the grounds for any suspension or revocation. Making a false statement is a felony, 720 ILCS 5/32-2, and if detected will also cause Illinois to revoke the unlawfully obtained license.
