    Default Will a Child Be Removed from a Home Due to Emotional Abuse

    My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Virginia

    I get mental and emotionally abused by my parents and sisters. Yes, I have searched up what qualofies as mental and emotional abuse, and looked at multiple sources to confirm them. I'm 13. My friends keep telling me to call CPS, but some of my other friends say they moght not help, because CPS said mental and emotional abuse wasnt enough for them. What should I do? I dont want to call CPS only to get told that I am not abused in a certain way I can leave this house.

    You are not understanding the process;

    to be removed from the home it must be proven it is unsafe for you. Care to guess who you call to have such a claim investigated? Yep, CPS.

    Either it's bad enough for you to call CPS or it's not. If it's not, then your only option is to suck it up.

    There is an alternative;

    if you have a school counselor, speak with them. If they believe there is a concern of danger to you they are required to report it to cps or the police.

    Even if a counselor reports it, CPS is still involved anf they will determine if abuse is occuring. CPS won't go by just what you say. They are experienced at doing this. It is very common for teenagers to complain that they are being abused when even though theri life may not be a picnic it doesn't equal abuse. If CPS thinks your parents and/or family needs counseling but what is going on isn't severe enough to equal abuse, they can leave you there and require the counseling.

    Absolutely but this way op is not calling and somebody somewhat separated from the issue is reviewing the facts. Depending on the type of counselor the school may employ op may actually gets some help, or at least direction to some help to help op deal with the situation.

    It seem like 98% of the teenagers now days think they are being abused. They want someone to control their parents so the parents don't discipline or restrict them. And they are worse off after CPS has investigatged their parents and finds nothing that equals abuse or neglect because their parents are worse then they were before.
