My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Indiana
It's October 29th 2015. My year lease ends March 2016. There are roaches in this building (apartment) and there's a gap under my door that allows bugs in. I've asked te landlord to fix the gap and the only this he would do was say "put a towel under the door". I have bombed the apartment 3 times and my landlord himself had come and sprayed and we are still having problem. My home is very clean (on my part).
We found black and white mold in our closet and they just covered some of it up. My husbands military issued suitcase is covered in mold just from sitting in our closet. Our closet is the size of a small bedroom and our newborn has been sick since she has been sleeping in our room.
We had to have a Sheriff remove marijuana from the top of our cabinet that I found when I climbed on the sink to get something out of the top cabinet that I couldn't reach.
Also our balcony door doesn't close all the way and is held Closed by a board. Cold air is getting in and letting our hear out. They promised it would be fixed when we moved in and 7 months later it still isn't fixed and getting work. Again bugs are getting in. I don't feel like this apartment is safe for my baby to live in and I need a way out of my lease without getting sued. Any help?
