My question involves real estate located in the State of: province of Alberta Canada
Our neighbor, who was the first occupant on the street of newly built houses, built fences on both sides of his yard before anyone else even bought into the neighborhood because he and his wife have dogs and like to have loud hot tub parties in the back yard. When we first moved in, he gave us a bill for the materials and we said that we would pay him for half of what the materials cost but we did not say when, as the cost of moving did not leave money in the budget for a fence right away. Apparently they are tired of waiting. They called my husband a f****ng a**hole and have been disrespectful and rude. He threatened to take us to court because we have a "verbal agreement". Are we obligated to pay for half the fence even though he built it on his own accord? I had every intention of paying him but now I just want to tell him to pound sand. Any advice? Thanks.
