Default Accused of Keying a Car

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Kentucky
My ex accused me of keying his car. He claims it was me because he was parked outside of the mall where I work when it happened. When I spoke to the police officer who has filing the report, he asked where I had been at 3:30 that day, I told him I was at the eye doctor, multiple people can say this is true. When he asked if I told anyone I had done it, I said I had to a somewhat friend to make her feel better about her recent breakup. There are messages of me saying I did it, but I told the officer I didn't work that day, and had an alibi for the time he said the crime occurred.

Is there a chance the county attorney will take this to court? If they do what will happen to me? I've never been in trouble with the law and I don't wanna start now.

You told one person and then left messages to other people. How many messages are we talking about?

What did you say in the messages?

How long after his vehicle was damaged until the police had talked to you?

How did you find out that his vehicle was damaged?

If you're found guilty you will receive a fine, pay court cost, pay restitution to your ex, possibly community service and or jail time.

There were only messages to one person saying I did it because I was angry. That's all. The police talked to me 6 days after the damage was done to the vehicle. I found out his vehicle was damaged because I drove by it on my way to the eye doctor, recognized it from the bumper stickers, and saw the scratch on the side.

If you have confessed to keying the car, and affirmed to the police officer that you confessed, there is a substantial chance that you'll be charged with a crime. Having an alibi for the time the officer believed the crime occurred is not the same thing as establishing that you could not have committed the crime. You should consult a criminal defense lawyer.

There goes your alibi. You didn’t go to the doctor until AFTER the crime had been committed and were in the area of the crime in the time immediately after it was committed.

If a vehicle were parked in a lot and someone drove by that vehicle on a roadway, they wouldn't have seen a scratch down the vehicle. You would have to be within 10 feet to notice that scratch. How far would you say you were from the vehicle when you noticed the scratch?

Wait... Maybe you should shut your mouth now and speak with a lawyer face to face and not a web forum. Good Luck
