Exclamation What Happens After You Report Child Abuse

My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Nevada
Okay, so i am 16 years old and i have twin girls. I live with my parents and in the past 6 months, my mom has been hitting my little sister. It started with spanking and now she pulls her hair, slaps her, and throws her to the ground. And i do not want my girls over there any more. My house is also dirty and disgusting. I'm hardly ever there. And my stepdad is also mean to my little sister. He spanks her with a belt and he cusses at her a lot. They both verbally abuse both of us as well. I think i need to report it but I am very confused because it would be against my own mother. I have a few questions.

    1. If i call CPS, what will happen? Will both me and my sister be taken in to custody? I have been living with my boyfriend so will be able to stay there?
    2. If we get taken in to custody, what will happen with my baby girls? My mother in law has been taking care of them for awhile so will they stay with her or will they be taken too?
    3. If my mom gets help and changes, will she get my little sister back?
    4. Will me and my little sister be split up?
    5. I am going to get emancipated so if i do that will i be able to stay with my boyfriend instead?
    6. Will my mom go to jail or will she just have my little sister taken away?

Any other information i could get about this would be helpful. Thank you.

Default Re: If I Know Someone is Being Abused, What Happens After I Report It

    1. If there is cause, you will be removed. You will not be placed in your boyfriend's custody.

    2. That really depends.

    3. Very probably

    4. It's possible.

    5. The state of Nevada will not emancipate you

    6. That also depends on the details.

    You're welcome.
