My question involves juvenile law in the State of Florida.
I have a close friend that is 17 years old. Currently she wants to get emancipated.
She is having a lot of issues with family right now.
She knows that she would need to be able to support herself financially and have some place to stay.
She wants to know if she would be able to stay with a friend or if she would need to have her own apartment.
I do not think she'll be able to get emancipated; I also do not think it would be worth stressing herself over since she turns 18 in 6 months.
However, is there anything that she could do or say with the fact that:
her mother is mentally abusing her to the point that she's tried suicide multiple times and her father is a "recovering" alcoholic and stresses her out by calling her for help often. Her parents are divorced. Other than that, she only has an uncle and aunt that live nearby... would they be an option? are close friends options?
Also, she wants to know if any contract that her mom makes with her (if she ever did, not likely) would be binding.
Any opinions, thoughts, concerns, or ideas will be appreciated.
Thank you ahead of time, just need info and answers on this.
