well i dont know i was hoping one of you guys could tell me how to get emancipated w/o getting married? i thought JP would marry you with 2 witnesses, but maybe i am wrong. the thing is i want to move out on my own. i have a good job i plan on going into the National Guard, but my mom said no and since she has to sign the papers if i am under the age of 18 and am not emancipated i cant go. My b/f is going into the Guard too. so i dont exactly know what to do. Can you help? Can i move out w/o my parents permission and show the court i can make it on my own? Will this get my b/f in trouble with the law if i move in w/ him when i leave in july?

To apply for a marriage application you must provide what is stated in the Texas statute (in my previous post).

    Can you help?
I'm not sure how we can help other than give you the information on Texas emancipation.

Can i move out w/o my parents permission and show the court i can make it on my own?
You are still a minor and would be considered a runaway.

Will this get my b/f in trouble with the law if i move in w/ him when i leave in july?
Yes, if he is found to be doing something illegal.

    What is the hurry?

i cant stand my step dad he thinks he owns me. Both my parents have gotten into the habit of hitting me latley. everytime they do it, it is usually in front of my little brother and sister which is 8 and 13. They have tried to send me to boot camp and juvi several times, but i havent done anything bad enough to have them except me. My mom has kicked me out of the house 2 Xs now and she asked me if i wanted to leave with my b/f or stay at home this past weekend so i told her i wanted to leave, but then she told me if i left she would call the cops. she does this quite offten and i'm tired of it.

Sounds like child protection services should be contacted.

Also, family counseling may be helpful; if you are still going to school, talk to your guidance counselor about the problems you are having at home.

No! I just want to leave! My Parents split when i was 8 and i cant go stay with my dad b/c he owes a few years child support and is running, but he wants to take me with him. i dont want to go b/c i wont come back to see my bro & sis, but i want to be able to see him w/o my mom finding out where he is. Is she aloud to say i can go then take it back? In harris county at 17 can i leave without being taken back home?
yes my mom slapped me across the face and my step dad hit me and choked me, but it didnt leave a bruse so i cant and wont say anything my bro and sis dont need to go threw CPS i've already been there and i dont want them to experience it. so just tell me how to leave plz as soon as posible, i will come back at lunch. i am at school right now. Marissa, you should seriously consider talking with your counselor at school or perhaps a teacher that you feel comfortable with if things are so bad at home.

No one here is going to advise you to runaway so you can go live with your boyfriend. You already stated that your mom will call the police and I don't think you want to get into trouble or have your boyfriend get into trouble either.

The age of majority in Texas is 18, until you are that age, you are your parents responsibility.

    -----------------

Edit: Just wanted to add directions for you to print out.

Follow the rules at home and don't argue with your parents.

Look i'm not going to run away. i just want to prove that i am ready to be on my own. i will be 17 when i leave and they will call the cops on me as a run away, but i know for a fact that i wont get picked up and sent back home. i just dont want to drag my b/f threw this, but i know he wont let me do this by my self. i have planed on being on my own at 17 since i got a job at 15 i have always been a hard worker and independent. I've told my mom i was leaving at 17 since i was 14 with or without a b/f. that is just me. i am not arguing with them, i am not raising my voice with them i am not running away i am just simply wanting to do my own thing. i wont run away, but i will leave and support myself with or without the help of you guys. i came here b/c i heard you could help me, but you all just say the same thing as my mom. "Dont argue with US, just liten you will be out at 18." i dont want to listen to someone who is going to try to hide me from the world b/c she doesnt want me to turn out like her this is my life and my decision. i might only be 16, but i am not going to be told that i cant have a life b/c i am a bad kid. i wont be told that i am a bad kid every time i bring home a bad grade or when i chose to see someone my mom thinks dresses weird. i am not a bad kid and i'm tired of being told that i will turn into nothing if i dont stop hanging out with so and so. i just want to be away. i would move in with my grandmother, but she is dying of cancer and my cousin, whom is also 16, just got pregnant so icant go there and my dad will get put in jail if the cops find him so i cant go there, so the only place to go is out on my own, which i can do i just want to make sure it is legally ok if i can support myself. Now this is all i need to know is can i get sent to juvi or boot camp for moving out on my own at 17 with a part time job and still in school? Yes or NO? If no why?
