But it's also true that her parents CAN force her back, with or without the assistance of law enforcement. She needs to be aware of that. The fact that the police will not force her back does not mean that she is guaranteed of being able to leave at 17.

Just because the state won't force her home doesn't mean her parents are prohibited from doing so. Telling her that is not judgement - it's telling her the truth. Just as we told you the truth. The fact that you don't like the truth doesn't make it wrong.
