Default Wht Happens in Court if a Traffic Officer is No Longer with Department

My question involves traffic court in the State of: California

City police officer who gave me a speeding ticket has moved to a different city police dept. I am scheduled for a court date in December. Will the city assign another officer in his place?

No, they cannot proceed with a different officer. The originally citing officer will almost certainly still be subpoenaed even from a new agency.

By law, does he have to show up? Will his new department pay for his time and travel expenses to go to court?

Doesn't matter. He'll be there. You can count on that.

If he receives a subpoena, he will be required to show. If he does not, there may be consequences for him even by the new employer if not by the court.
