How Does a Child Support Formula Work

My question involves child support in the State of: VA

I wanted to know how is child support is determined for a child and what formula is used? The non-custodial parent has another child that he does not have a child support order for and she doesn't reside in the home with him. Will that be taken into consideration when the order is determined. I'm just scared that he will state he takes care of the other child and not have to provide documentation showing this and that it will reduce what I can potentially receive for child support. Will he have to show documentation that he provides for this other child or will they just accept from word of mouth?

Here's a worksheet for calculating child support.

A child who is not in the custody of the payor, and is not being supported by the payor, should not be relevant to a child support order. If he claims that he is paying support or has custody of the child, the mother will have to attempt to refute his claims.

How would I be able to refute his claims? Wouldn't the courts require him to show proof of support for the other child?
