My question involves an incident that occurred in the state of: California
Earlier this morning, my mother was driving to work. As she was on the freeway/highway, she noticed smoke coming out of the hood of her vehicle.
My mother had taken the car to the dealership just a few days ago to fix a "Engine Light" issue. She had just got the car back about two days ago (day before yesterday.)
It turns out that the dealership service technicians left a cleaning rag inside the engine somewhere, which had caught on fire this morning causing the smoke to come out of the hood! The fire department came out and discovered the rag. My mother has the rag in her possession to show the dealership.
Is there any legal action that can be taken? Clearly, it was negligence and someone could've been seriously injured and/or died due to it.
By the way, the topic I chose was "Defective Vehicles and Parts." Unfortunately, Professional Negligence was not an option.
Thank you in advance for any and all insight!
