My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Florida
Husband and wife tenants were together on a residential apartment lease. The wife, who was the main income provider, died unexpectedly. The husband is elderly and on a fixed disability income and cannot afford to stay in the apartment alone. The management company for the complex will not give him any concessions if he breaks the lease. They said they will still demand over $1,000 in fees if the lease is broken. Does he have any remedies in Florida to get out of the lease without paying the fee considering the circumstances?
